POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN NONINVASIVE BRAIN STIMULATION AND HUMAN BRAIN PLASTICITY (EEG/TMS/US) A postdoctoral associate position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. William J. Tyler in the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute. Projects in the lab focus on developing novel brain stimulation approaches, as well as studying neuronal plasticity in a variety of model systems. A portion of our present research efforts involve translational investigations aimed at employing brain stimulation approaches to regulate brain plasticity with a particular emphasis on epileptic and injured brain circuits. Other brain diseases/cognitive processes including addiction will also be studied through collaborations in the VTCRI. Required qualifications are a Ph.D. or equivalent in neuroscience, psychology, biophysics, physiology, or a related field. Candidates must have a proven record of research excellence as indicated by peer-reviewed publications. Extensive experience in systems neuroscience, psychophysiology, or cognitive psychology is required. Candidates should have experience in recording and analyzing EEG data (> 32 channels) to study circuit level brain plasticity in humans. Candidates who also have experience in TMS are preferred. Candidates must possess broad quantitative skill sets with an ability to traverse experimental models and research paradigms preferably in both rodent and human models. Salary will be competitive and based on experience.
