  • INHALATION
    		• Cough. Laboured breathing. Sore throat.
    		Avoid inhalation of fine dust and mist. Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• Redness.
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Corrosive. Pain. Severe deep burns.
    		Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• (further see Inhalation).
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
    		Rinse mouth. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Sweep spilled substance into airtight containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: A/P2 filter respirator for organic vapour and harmful dust).
    		Separated from strong oxidants, strong acids. Well closed. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
    		Airtight. Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     ORANGE CRYSTALS.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     The substance decomposes at 52°C producing toxic fumes of carbon monoxide and cobalt (see ICSC # 0023 and ICSC # 0785). Reacts with strong acids and strong oxidants.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV: ppm; 0.1 mg/m3 as Co (ACGIH 1993-1994).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance is corrosive to the eyes, the skin and severely irritates the respiratory tract. Inhalation of aerosol may cause lung oedema (see Notes). The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

    The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Immediate administration of an appropriate spray, by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered. Insufficient data are available on the effect of this substance on human health, therefore utmost care must be taken.
