  • INHALATION
    		• Cough.
    		Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest.
  • SKIN

    		• Protective gloves.
    		Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
  • EYES

    		• Safety spectacles, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION



    • SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     BROWNISH BLACK POWDER

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     On heating at 300°C in air, oxidation to stannic oxide proceeds incandescently.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV (as tin): 2 mg/m3 (ACGIH 1997).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol.

    INHALATION RISK:
     Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The aerosol of this substance irritates the respiratory tract.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     Lungs may be affected by repeated or prolonged exposure to dust particles , resulting in a benign pneumoconiosis (stannosis).
